March 24, 2020, Simcoe, ON – Ride Norfolk will be giving users a break on fares for the next two weeks.

Effective today, the service will not be charging fares until at least Apr. 6 to help residents get around for essential travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We recognize that the closure of retail locations like libraries and municipal offices, makes the purchase of tickets difficult,” noted Blaire Sylvester, Norfolk County Public Transportation and Business Development Coordinator. “Also, with banks working at reduced hours, it has become increasingly challenging for our riders to obtain cash to pay their fare. We do not want any residents becoming immobile during this pandemic.”

To be clear, users should only use the service for essential trips. If you have travelled outside the country, or feel unwell, DO NOT use Ride Norfolk.

In respecting social distancing, users must leave an empty seat between themselves and other riders. In the event a bus is at “capacity”, riders will need to wait for the next bus.
