June 4 – In support of Canada’s team, Norfolk County Parks and Recreation and the Norfolk County Public Library will host a viewing party for Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wed. June 5.

Basketball fans of all ages are invited to attend the downstairs meeting room at the Norfolk County Public Library Simcoe Branch before tip-off, which is set for 9 p.m. Admission is by donation to Norfolk County KidSport, a not-for-profit that provides support to young athletes from underprivileged families.

“Norfolk County has always been a great area for sports,” said Scott Clark, with the Norfolk County Public Library. “People in this area have really gotten into basketball this spring and we wanted to give them an opportunity come together, cheer and support the team.”

Pop and chips will be provided while supplies last. Fans also have the option to bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.

The series sits at 1-1, with Toronto taking the opener and Golden State knotting things up on Sunday in Game 2. The Finals now shifts to Oracle Arena in Oakland for the next two meetings.

“Over the last few weeks, communities large and small across Canada have hosted these types of events there’s no reason we shouldn’t,” noted Susie Wray, supervisor of community programs. “We certainly have passionate basketball fans and community spirit.”

Doors for the event will open at 8:30 p.m. and will remain open until 11:45 p.m.
