Norfolk County is experiencing a winter storm with snow, heavy at times, expected to become mixed with ice pellets early this evening before transitioning to light rain or drizzle near midnight tonight. There is also a risk of freezing rain and strong winds this evening.

Norfolk County reminds residents to take precautions to stay safe, such as staying off roads, monitoring the weather conditions, and postponing non-essential travel. Residents are asked to move parked vehicles from the road.

Norfolk County Recreation has cancelled Pickleball from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and lengths swim from 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Programming at the Simcoe Seniors Centre is cancelled. Any other County cancellations will be shared on social media.

Members of the community can visit Hydro One’s website for information on preparing for storms, and how to stay safe during a power outage – and follow alerts for the area on the Environment Canada website.

Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. Information on emergency plans and kits can be found at getprepared.gc.ca.
