Norfolk County is reminding residents that there are some changes to programs, facilities and services with Thanksgiving taking place this weekend.     

County Administration Buildings    
All buildings will be closed Monday, October 9, reopening Tuesday, October 10.     

Health Unit    
All branches will be closed Monday, October 9, reopening Tuesday, October 10. For public health emergencies or hazards, such as outbreaks, food poisoning, meningitis, or rabies, please call the after-hours emergency phone number at 1-877-298-5888.      

Social Services and Housing   

Simcoe and Dunnville office locations will be closed on Monday, October 9. For crisis support, such as emergency accommodation, call the Victim Services Support Line at 1-800-264-6671.      

Heritage and Culture    
All museums and Norfolk County Archives will be closed Monday, October 9, returning to regular hours on Tuesday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 11.    
    
Norfolk County Public Library  
All Norfolk County Public Library Branches will be closed Monday, October 9, and return to regular hours on Tuesday, October 10.       

Recreation   
The Simcoe Recreation Centre, Simcoe Seniors’ Centre, and Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre are closed for programming during the Norfolk County Fair. The Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre will resume regular programming on Wednesday, October 11 and the Simcoe Recreation Centre and Simcoe Seniors’ Centre will re-open on Thursday, October 12. All other Recreation facilities including arenas, will only be closed on Monday, October 9, returning to regular hours on Tuesday, October 10.     

Ride Norfolk    
Ride Norfolk will not be in operation on Monday, October 9. Service will be available on Tuesday, October 10.      

ServiceNorfolk    
ServiceNorfolk will be closed Monday, October 9, returning to regular hours on Tuesday, October 10. Residents may email [email protected], staff will reply to emails in priority sequence when offices reopen.      

Residents seeking emergency assistance regarding forestry, parks and facilities, public health, roads, water, sewer, and drainage, can call 1-877-298-5888. For after-hours By-law Enforcement, the public may use the OPP non-emergency line number at 1-888-310-1122.         

Transfer Stations    
Transfer stations will be closed on Monday, October 9. The Simcoe Transfer Station returns to regular hours on Tuesday, October 10. The South Walsingham Transfer Station will return to regular hours on Wednesday, October 11.   

Waste collection    
Waste collection will be delayed one day throughout the week of October 9, with the exception of Simcoe. Residents are encouraged to use the Recycle Coach app for instant access to their area’s collection schedule, personalized reminders, and more. The app is available on the iTunes Store and the Google Play Store. 

Residents in Waterford are reminded to have their waste/recycling to the curb by 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, as additional trucks will be in the area prior to the Pumpkinfest Parade.    

Essential and critical services    

Fire and Paramedic Services will continue to operate as usual.    

Fireworks reminder   
Thanksgiving weekend is not a permitted holiday for the discharge of fireworks in Norfolk County.
