SIMCOE, ON – April 11th, 2018 Haldimand-Norfolk Social Services and Housing Department will be conducting homeless enumeration from May 7th to May 11th in Haldimand and Norfolk. Volunteers will be out in the community, talking to community members who are experiencing homelessness.

Homeless enumeration is measuring the number of people experiencing homelessness at a point in time. Those experiencing homelessness will be surveyed by service agency staff and trained volunteers between May 7th and May 11th in communities throughout Haldimand and Norfolk.

“The end goal is to have a clearer picture of homelessness in Haldimand and Norfolk in order to better design a coordinated system that adequately and appropriately responds to the community’s needs,” said Tricia Givens, program manager for Housing Services.    “This is the starting point of enhanced data collection, with similar enumeration events occurring at least every two years, as part of the plan to continue to work towards ending chronic homelessness in our community.”

Haldimand-Norfolk Social Services and Housing Department is currently looking for community volunteers to help with the enumeration. Those interested can contact Louise Lovell, Social Housing resource coordinator at [email protected] or 519-426-6170/ 905-318-6623 Ext. 3234
