Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility
Research demonstrates that recreational programs and active, healthy lifestyles contribute significantly to improved mental and physical well-being. Supporting seniors through accessible recreation opportunities, including preventative initiatives such as fall-prevention exercise programs, can help reduce injuries, promote independence, and ultimately lessen the demand on health clinics, hospitals, and physicians' offices.
Norfolk asks that the Province:
- Increase financial support for senior fall prevention programs.
- Improve senior recreation, Norfolk County’s 65+ population accounts for 25% of our residents and continues to grow. Norfolk County would like to thank the ministry for Seniors Active Living Centres (SALC) funding but would request consideration for more.
- Province additional funding that would assist in development of Age-Friendly Communities, aligning with the World Health Organizations (WHO) initiative, further enhancing healthy, active and independent living for all ages.
Norfolk is ready.
We can grow Ontario, together.
