Where we're at
Without the necessary utility infrastructure and electrical capacity, the Courtland Industrial Park cannot be fully developed or marketed to prospective businesses. Reliable water, wastewater, natural gas, telecommunications, and sufficient electrical capacity are fundamental to attracting and retaining industrial and commercial investment.
Investing in a utility corridor will:
- Prepare shovel-ready industrial lands for development.
- Create local jobs through new business attraction, expansion of existing industries, and construction activity.
- Support business retention and expansion by ensuring existing and future employers have access to reliable utilities.
- Strengthen Norfolk's tax base, helping reduce the burden on residential taxpayers while generating long-term municipal revenue.
Norfolk asks that the Province
- Support the development of a utility corridor to Courtland and ensure sufficient electrical capacity is available to service the future Courtland Industrial Park
- Establish the utility infrastructure necessary to unlock the next phase of industrial and residential development in Courtland, including investing in a utility corridor and ensuring reliable power capacity is available to meet the needs of future employers, industrial growth and residential growth
