Ministry of Education

Norfolk County is experiencing significant growth, creating increased demand for schools, child care, and supporting infrastructure. While urban communities often benefit from larger, centralized services, rural municipalities face unique challenges that require innovative solutions.

Where we're at

A rural education and child care innovation pilot would allow Norfolk County to test integrated service delivery models that improve access to education and child care while reducing transportation barriers for families. Strengthening broadband connectivity and digital learning opportunities would further support student success, workforce development, and economic growth.

Norfolk asks that the Province

Establish a rural education and child care innovation pilot in Norfolk County to support:

  • Integrated child care and school hubs to improve access for families
  • Rural student transportation models that reflect the realities of long distances
  • Increased investment in agriculture, skilled trades, and agri-technology programming in secondary and post-secondary education
  • Expansion of licensed child care spaces, broadband infrastructure, and digital learning opportunities to support growing rural communities

Norfolk is ready.

We can grow Ontario, together.
