Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security

Fanshawe College plays a vital role in developing a skilled workforce in health care, the skilled trades, and agriculture-related fields, while supporting local employers, local transit, and economic growth.

Fanshawe offers a variety of workshops for healthcare professionals, both to improve healthcare standards and to provide professional development opportunities. Reductions to programming limit training opportunities, create labour shortages, and hinder Norfolk County's ability to retain talent and meet the evolving needs.

Where we're at

Placement capacity is the key factor that would enable Fanshawe to increase enrollment immediately within the existing lab. However, to increase beyond another 10-12 students, it would require additional lab stations.

Norfolk asks that the Province

  • Provide clarity on the long-term sustainability of rural, regional, and satellite college campuses
  • Support operational funding stability for colleges impacted by reduced international tuition revenue and increase diversified courses and programs to meet local priorities
  • Work with institutions to maintain and responsibly expand programming in rural communities, including relocating Fanshawe College to the Simcoe downtown core
  • Given the need for teachers and the importance of trades, look to expedite the teachers' college program for technological education teachers

Norfolk is ready.

We can grow Ontario, together.
