Leaf and yard waste guidelines

  • All leaves and yard waste must be placed curbside in brown paper leaf bags with the tops rolled shut
  • Plastic bags will not be collected
  • There is no bag limit for paper bags
  • Weight limit is 18kg (40lbs) per bag
  • Do not include garbage, burnt leaves, flower pots, or animal waste
  • Trimmings may be tied or bundled in lengths of less than 3’ (91 cm)
  • No plastic twine or metal ties on bundles

Residents are reminded not to rake or blow leaves onto streets or neighbouring properties, in accordance with By-law 2004-213. Leaves can block catch basins, create slippery conditions on sidewalks and roads, and interfere with street sweeping operations.

Other options to dispose of your leaves

  • Mulch leaves to use in gardens or flowerbeds, or leave them on your grass
  • Compost leaves in your backyard composter
