The Norfolk County Fire Department has reached a significant milestone, responding to its 1,000th call with one month still remaining in 2024. This increase in call volume positions 2024 as the department’s busiest year in the past five years, reflecting its dedication to community safety.

Norfolk County is proud to announce that it has secured funding through the 2024 Rural Economic Development (RED) Program. The grant of $116,050 will be matched by Norfolk County, resulting in a $232,100 investment.

Norfolk County’s Budget Committee has reviewed and approved the 2025-2034 Levy Capital Plan.

The County’s 2025 levy capital budget is heavily focused on management of existing assets with notable expenditures in roads, facilities, and emergency services.

Norfolk County is inviting community members to participate in the development of a comprehensive Master Fire Plan (MFP) for its Fire Department. This plan will serve as a strategic guide, ensuring that Norfolk County Fire Department remains effective, efficient, and responsive to current and future community needs.

Norfolk County residents are reminded not to alter the appearance of fire hydrants to ensure their effectiveness during emergencies.

During their meeting today, Norfolk County Council acknowledged the exceptional contributions of retired farmer and community member Paul DeCloet. During a ceremonial presentation, Mr. DeCloet was formally recognized for his significant donations to the County’s environmental heritage.

On the evening of November 12 into the early hours of November 13, Norfolk County Fire Department responded to five structure fires across three locations, mobilizing resources from seven Norfolk County fire stations and two additional stations from the Brant County Fire Department.
