Quality of Life for Workers Study

Norfolk County is following up with residents about their quality of life.

In partnership with Workforce Synergy, Norfolk County is conducting a survey of people, aged 15+, who live or work in the County, to understand how workers feel about their community, government services and the environment.

The Norfolk Worker Survey includes questions about work-life satisfaction, job opportunities, access to health care, transit, recreation, community amenities and confidence in local government.

A similar survey was conducted in summer 2024, with 457 Norfolk County residents completing an assessment of their quality of life across 30 metrics. You can read the 2024 Quality of Life Report and Implementation Plan on the Norfolk County eScribe website.

The report, along with a forum that brought together 12 community representatives to discuss actionable steps, led to several initiatives over the last two years by Norfolk County, the Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie, and other community partners. These initiatives include:

  • a one‑stop toolkit for small businesses
  • a speaker series on inclusivity in the workplace
  • a video series highlighting business supports offered by local community agencies

Gaps and opportunities identified through the research will be used to build initiatives that promote the well-being, satisfaction and overall quality of life for individuals who live and work in Norfolk County.

In addition to the survey, community organizations, including employment agencies and business groups, are being invited to share their input on what needs to be tackled next and how.
