5 tips for a safe and memorable Friday the 13th

Video transcript
Friday the 13th brings motorcycle  enthusiasts and fans alike to the  vibrant town of Port Dover, nestled  along the shores of Lake Erie. While the event is run by local community groups,  Norfolk County plays an important role in  keeping residents, visitors, and property safe. Thinking about attending? Here are five essential tips to ensure  you have a memorable and safe experience.

One: Chart your journey.
Whether you’re attending from near or far,  plan your trip to and from Port Dover. Take your time and drive safely, as  County roads may be busier than usual.

Two: Secure your spot.
Check the event map before you arrive. Motorcycle parking is only available in certain  areas and is not permitted on designated streets. With the large number of visitors, vendors,  and bikes in town during the event, parking in permitted areas ensures  our fire, paramedic, and police teams have fast and direct access to residential  and business areas in an emergency.

Three: Embrace the rumble.
The streets of Port over will be alive with  the sounds of engines, music, and spectators. Share the road, be patient and courteous.

Four: Prioritize safety.
Friday the 13th has grown in popularity  since it started more than 40 years ago, attracting large crowds year after year. Keeping the event safe and enjoyable for you,  your fellow riders, and residents  is everyone’s top priority. Do your part. Follow event guidelines.  Obey the rules of the road. Drink responsibly and drive sober.

And, five: Honor the host.
Let’s thank the community of Port Dover. Please show your respect for residents, their  families, and their property while you visit. So, don your gear, ride smart, and  make the event one you will remember.

See you in Port Dover.
