What’s open and closed Thanksgiving 2026
Norfolk County residents are reminded that most County services and all County buildings will be closed on Thanksgiving Monday, October 12, 2026. The following services and facilities will be impacted by the holiday closure:
County Administration Buildings
All County administration buildings will be closed.
Emergency, essential and critical services
Fire and Paramedic Services will continue to operate as usual. Norview Lodge remains open.
Court closures
The Provincial Offences Court at the Robinson Administration Building in Simcoe will be closed.
Housing and Social Services
Simcoe and Dunnville offices will be closed. For crisis support, such as emergency accommodation, call the Victim Services Support Line at 1-800-264-6671.
Heritage and Culture
All museums and Norfolk County Archives will be closed.
Norfolk County Public Library
All Branches are closed. However, all electronic and digital resources, including eBooks, audiobooks, online learning, and streaming movies and music, remain available 24/7 at ncpl.ca.
Recreation
The Simcoe Seniors' Centre is closed for the Norfolk County Fair and will reopen on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
The Simcoe Recreation Centre remains closed due to ongoing structural repairs to the roof and walls. The multi-purpose floor will remain closed until early November.
The Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre remains closed and is expected to reopen later this month, subject to the completion of ongoing construction and repair work. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.
The Delhi Friendship Centre and all County arenas are closed Monday, October 12, and will reopen on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The Port Rowan Seniors Social Club will also resume regular programming on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
Norfolk County trails and parks remain open and available for public use. Follow posted signs regarding seasonal trail closures and access restrictions at selected sites during the fall hunting season.
The Port Dover Harbour Marina will close for the season on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
Ride Norfolk
Ride Norfolk will not be in operation.
ServiceNorfolk
ServiceNorfolk customer service counters and call centre will be closed. Residents can submit non-urgent service requests or general inquiries anytime through service.norfolkcounty.ca.
For urgent issues related to forestry, parks and facilities, roads, water, sewer, waste, or drainage, please call 1-877-298-5888.
By-law concerns can be directed to the OPP non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122.
Transfer stations
Transfer stations will be closed.
Waste collection
Waste and recycling collection will be delayed by one day throughout Norfolk County during the week of October 12, including Simcoe. Collection scheduled for Monday will occur Tuesday, Tuesday collection will occur Wednesday, and so on, with Friday collection taking place Saturday.
Residents are encouraged to use the Recycle Coach app for instant access to their personalized collection schedule, reminders, and more. The app is available on the iTunes Store and the Google Play Store and is free of charge.
