What’s happening in Norfolk County for Family Day, February 16
Norfolk County is reminding residents about program changes and facility closures on Family Day, Monday, February 16. Although many buildings, programs and services will not be operating, several recreational opportunities will still be available for community members of all ages.
Family Day programs
Free family fun at the Simcoe Recreation Centre
Families are invited to celebrate Family Day at the Simcoe Recreation Centre on February 16, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Enjoy s’mores by the fire, crafts and games, and activities hosted by Norfolk County Fire and the Norfolk County Public Library. The event is weather-dependent and subject to change.
The event is free of charge, and pre-registration is recommended by February 15. Register at norfolkcounty.ca/Encore. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Family Day swims
Residents can enjoy a mix of free, sponsored and regular paid swimming opportunities on Family Day, Monday, February 16, at the Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre. Select swims are offered free through support from the Cornerstone Association of Realtors. The full schedule is listed below, with sponsored free swims noted accordingly.
Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre
- 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. – Lengths
- 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. – Leisure
- 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. – Aquafit
- 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. – Family Swim (Free – sponsored by the Cornerstone Association of Realtors)
- 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. – Lengths & Leisure
- 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. – Public Swim (Free – sponsored by the Cornerstone Association of Realtors)

Family Day skating
Norfolk County residents can enjoy a mix of free, sponsored and regular paid skating opportunities on Family Day, Monday, February 16. Free skates are made possible through support from local service clubs and community partners. All other skates will follow regular admission fees. The full schedule is listed by arena, with sponsored free skates noted accordingly.

Closures and schedule changes
County Administration Buildings
All County administration buildings will be closed.
Emergency, essential and critical services
Fire and Paramedic Services will continue to operate as usual.
Court closures
The Provincial Offences Court at the Robinson Administration Building in Simcoe will be closed.
Housing and Social Services
Simcoe and Dunnville offices will be closed. For crisis support, such as emergency accommodation, call the Victim Services Support Line at 1-800-264-6671.
Heritage and Culture
All museums and Norfolk County Archives will be closed.
Norfolk County Public Library
All branches are closed. However, all electronic and digital resources, including eBooks, audiobooks, online learning, and streaming movies and music, remain available 24/7 at ncpl.ca.
Ride Norfolk
Will not be operating.
ServiceNorfolk
ServiceNorfolk will be closed. Residents can submit non-urgent service requests or general inquiries anytime through service.norfolkcounty.ca.
For urgent issues related to forestry, parks and facilities, roads, water, sewer, waste, or drainage, please call 1-877-298-5888.
By-law concerns during the closure can be directed to the OPP non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122.
Transfer stations
Transfer stations will be closed.
Waste collection
Waste collection in Simcoe remains unchanged, while collection in the rest of Norfolk County will be delayed by one day; residents are encouraged to use the Recycle Coach app for personalized reminders and schedules.
