Description of proposed work

Parking lot reconstruction will take place at the Talbot Gardens Parking Lot and the Argyle Street Parking Lot in Simcoe. The work will include asphalt removal, granular regrading, storm system upgrades, new asphalt installation, and updated line painting.

Construction is expected to take approximately one month overall. Work at the Talbot Gardens Parking Lot is expected to be completed in approximately three weeks, while work at the Argyle Street Parking Lot is expected to take approximately four weeks.

Project impacts on residents and businesses

Access and on-street parking

The contractor is required to maintain access to all businesses during construction. Access to businesses will be by foot. There will be occasions when delays, lack of service, or inconvenience may be experienced.

Parking on the street in the area will be permitted as currently posted.

Argyle Street Phasing Requirements

To maintain parking availability, the contractor will complete the Argyle Street Parking Lot in two phases. Approximately half of the parking lot will remain open at all times. The contractor will not be permitted to begin Phase 2 until Phase 1 is fully completed, including line painting.

Dust, Noise, Nuisance

Every reasonable effort will be made to keep dust, noise and nuisance to a minimum. Dust suppression will be applied to the gravel as necessary to mitigate dust. However, some level of dust will likely occur. The process of construction is noisy and a nuisance. However, the work is necessary to address the needs of this area. Once completed, the new infrastructure will service this area quietly and soundly for many years.
