Registration opens September 3 for Norfolk County's fall Household Hazardous Waste events
Norfolk County will host two Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection events this fall, providing residents with a safe and convenient way to dispose of household hazardous materials. Registration opens Thursday, September 3 at noon.
The appointment-based events provide residents with a safe and responsible way to dispose of common household hazardous materials that should not be placed in regular curbside collection, taken to transfer stations or landfill sites.
This fall, two HHW events are scheduled:
- Simcoe: Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Simcoe Facilities Operations Building, 591 Norfolk Street South
- Langton: Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Langton Roads West Yard, 1630 County Road 45
Accepted materials include household cleaners and disinfectants, paints and stains, pesticides and insecticides, pool chemicals, automotive fluids, propane tanks and cylinders, batteries, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, and pharmaceuticals and syringes.
Items that will not be accepted include electronic waste, explosives, radioactive waste, and hazardous materials in containers larger than 20 litres (five gallons), including agricultural, commercial, and industrial waste.
Appointments are available in 30-minute time slots and are required for all participants. Multiple vehicles may be scheduled during each appointment window.
Residents are encouraged to review the complete list of accepted and non-accepted materials before booking an appointment.
