Registration for Fall Household Hazardous Waste events opens September 4

Residents looking to dispose of household hazardous waste can register for Norfolk County’s Fall Household Hazardous Waste events starting Thursday, September 4 at noon. These events provide a safe and convenient way to dispose of hazardous materials that can be harmful to humans, animals, and the environment. 

 Event details:

  • Simcoe: Saturday, October 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 591 Norfolk Street South
  • Langton: Saturday, October 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1630 County Road 45 

 Accepted items:

  • Aerosol cans
  • Batteries (all types)
  • Household cleaners and disinfectants
  • Fluorescent tubes and bulbs
  • Propane tanks (20lb) and cylinders
  • Gasoline, oil, and oil filters
  • Pharmaceuticals, syringes
  • Paints, varnishes, and stains
  • Pesticides and insecticides
  • Pool chemicals  

Items NOT accepted:

  • Any hazardous material in containers larger than 20L (5 gallons)
  • Agricultural, commercial, or industrial waste
  • PCBs
  • Explosives
  • Radioactive waste

Please note that Norfolk County no longer collects electronic waste at Household Hazardous Waste events. Information on retailer take-back depots can be found at norfolkcounty.ca/Waste
 
Appointment times are 30 minutes long, with multiple vehicles scheduled per timeslot. Please be patient, as unloading will occur at any time during the 30-minute window.
