Proposed Road Closure – Park King Street South (CDS25-076)
Staff presented a report regarding the proposed permanent closure and conveyance of an unopened portion of Park King Street South in Port Ryerse. No public input was received. The report was received for information and will return to Council for a decision at a later date.
Zoning By-law Amendment – 129 Queensway East, Simcoe (CDS25-078)
A zoning bylaw amendment was proposed to expand permitted uses on the former Zellers site. The amendment would allow full Shopping Centre Commercial (CSC) uses, including gyms, restaurants, and retail, while retaining department store use. A deputation from Greg Jones of SkyDev expressed support for the proposal. No public objections were received. The report was received for information.
Woodway Trails Subdivision – Draft Plan of Subdivision and Zoning By-law Amendment (CDS25-042)
This application proposes approximately 490 residential units in Simcoe, including single detached homes, townhouses, and an apartment building. Key topics discussed included:
- Traffic and Access: Concerns were raised about reliance on Donly Drive South as the sole access point. The developer committed to limiting Phase 1 to Donly Drive and adding additional access routes before Phase 2.
- Construction Access: A proposed route through the wastewater treatment plant was discussed. Residents expressed concerns about traffic impacts and emergency access.
- Parkland: A 1.38-hectare park is proposed in Phase 1A. Residents requested guarantees for recreational amenities and timely development.
- Public Comments: Several deputations were received from residents expressing concerns about traffic, parking, emergency access, and communication clarity.
The report was received for information. A future staff report will address public and technical feedback before Council makes a decision.
