Paid parking in effect in Norfolk lakeside communities on June 15

Starting Sunday, June 15, paid parking will once again be in effect in three lakeside communities across Norfolk County until Labour Day, Tuesday, September 2.  

Duration and hours:  

  • Duration: 11 weeks, from June 15 to September 2  
  • Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily  

Locations:  

Paid parking zones:  

  • Port Dover: Clinton Street parking lot. The Lift Bridge Parking Lot Harbour Street spaces near the museum will be available pending ongoing road work in that area.  
  • Turkey Point: Cedar Drive from Turkey Point Road to Old Hill Road, along the main beach.  
  • Long Point: Erie Boulevard, Abigail Becker parking lot.  

Cost:   

  • Parking fees are $4 per hour 

Vendor and payment options:  

  • Visitors can pay for parking with a mobile phone using the HotSpot app or by scanning the QR code provided in each parking area. Data is required to use the app.  
  • Payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, or Debit Tap at designated pay terminals (please note that debit cards cannot be swiped). 
  • Cash payments are not accepted.  

Resident permits:  

  • Resident Permits will be available to Norfolk County residents or property owners for $35 per vehicle, which covers 4 hours of paid parking daily.  

Accessible parking permits:

  • Vehicles displaying a current valid Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) issued Accessible Parking Permit may park at no cost in a marked Accessible parking space in any paid parking zone.  
  • The MTO permit is only valid in a marked Accessible space; the Accessible Parking Permit cannot be used to park in any other location, and the vehicle will be subject to parking enforcement if payment has not been made. 

Fines:  

  • Vehicles parked without proper payment in designated paid parking zones will be subject to a $75 fine.
