Notice of application to repeal Heritage designation By-Law 81-26 45 for Peel Street, Simcoe

Take notice that an application has been received under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act to repeal By-law 81-26, which designates the property municipally known as 45 Peel Street, Simcoe.

The property is located at the corner of Peel Street and Kent Street South in downtown Simcoe. The building was designated in 1981 for its significance in illustrating early 20th-century institutional architecture. Originally constructed as the Post Office and Customs Offices, the building opened to the public in January 1910 and has since been adapted for other uses while maintaining its exterior architectural character.

The application seeks to repeal the designation By-law, thereby removing the property’s heritage status.
