Norfolk seeking public engagement regarding 2023 budget
September 9, 2022 – Norfolk County is seeking public input for the 2023 budget.
The budget is the financial plan that directs the flow of funds to programs and services in the municipality. Careful budget planning and control ensure that funds are used as effectively as possible to meet the needs of the community both now and in the future.
“We know that our residents have lots of great feedback to provide,” said Chris Everets, Acting Manager, Strategic Financial Planning & Reporting. “Both staff and Council utilize this information to make well-informed decisions on how best to meet community needs.”
There are several ways members of the public can be involved with the budget process. Residents are encouraged to engage with staff via EngageNorfolk, the County’s public engagement tool. The webpage includes a survey, a section where the public can submit their ideas to staff, key dates and more.
The survey closes Sept. 30 – all feedback will be included in a Budget Engagement Update report to Norfolk’s Budget Committee November 17. This report will provide Council with an update on the budget process, and include the feedback and themes of the 2023 budget engagement campaign.
