Norfolk County: What’s open and closed Thanksgiving 2025

Norfolk County residents are reminded that most County services, and all County buildings, will not be available on Thanksgiving Monday, October 13, 2025.  

The following is a list of impacted services and closures: 

County Administration Buildings 

All County administration buildings will be closed. 

Emergency, Essential and Critical Services 

Fire and Paramedic Services will continue to operate as usual. 

Social Services and Housing 

All Social Services and Housing offices will be closed. 

Heritage and Culture 

All museums and Norfolk County Archives will be closed. 

Norfolk County Public Library 

All branches are closed. However, all electronic and digital resources – including eBooks, audiobooks, online learning, and streaming movies and music – remain available 24/7 at ncpl.ca. 

Recreation 

The Simcoe Recreation Centre, including the Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre and Simcoe Seniors’ Centre are closed for programming during the Norfolk County Fair. The facility will reopen in stages, beginning with the Aquatic Centre on Wednesday, October 15, followed by the Simcoe Seniors Centre on Thursday, October 16, and the multi-purpose floor on Friday, October 17. All other recreation facilities, including arenas, will only be closed on Monday, October 13, and will return to regular hours on Tuesday, October 14.    

Ride Norfolk 

Ride Norfolk will not be in operation. 

ServiceNorfolk 

ServiceNorfolk will be closed. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, October 14.  

Residents can submit non-urgent service requests anytime through Service.NorfolkCounty.ca.  

For urgent issues related to forestry, parks and facilities, roads, water, sewer, waste, or drainage, please call 1-877-298-5888.  

By-law concerns during the closure can be directed to the OPP non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122. 

Transfer Stations 

Transfer stations will be closed. 

Waste Collection 

Waste collection will be delayed one day throughout the week of October 13, except in Simcoe. Residents are encouraged to use the Recycle Coach app for instant access to their area’s collection schedule, personalized reminders, and more. The app is available on the iTunes Store and the Google Play Store and is free of charge.
