Norfolk County seeking feedback on its Official Plan update to align with Ontario’s new Provincial Planning Statement
Norfolk County is undertaking a technical update to its Official Plan to align with the Province of Ontario’s New Provincial Planning Statement that came into effect on October 20, 2024.
The Official Plan guides land development and provides policy direction for growth management in Norfolk County. This update is required under the Planning Act and ensures that Norfolk’s Planning policies are consistent with provincial direction.
The County is hosting an Open House for residents to learn more and provide feedback, and a public meeting of Council is scheduled to seek residents' comments and provide further information.
Public open house
A Public Open House will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Talbot Gardens Arena (2nd Floor Multi-Purpose Room), located at 10 Talbot Street North in Simcoe. This in-person event offers residents an informal opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the proposed technical updates to the County’s Official Plan.
Public meeting
A Public Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at 50 Colborne Street South, Simcoe. This meeting will include a presentation of the proposed technical amendments to the Official Plan. Community members will have the opportunity to provide input and ask questions about the changes. Written comments must be submitted to the Clerk’s Office by 9:00 a.m. on December 16, 2025.
The Open House presentation and proposed technical updates, including the redlined version of the Official Plan and related schedules, are available online at norfolkcounty.ca/October22OpenHouse. Printed copies of the files can be viewed at the Gilbertson Administration Building located at 12 Gilbertson Drive, Simcoe, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
