Norfolk County resolves legal matters and receives formal apology

Norfolk County announces the resolution of a legal matter involving Warren Cummings. The resolution includes a formal apology and retraction, payments of $46,750 towards Norfolk’s outstanding court-awarded recovery of costs, and a full and final release of all claims against the County and its officials.

As part of the resolution, Mr. Cummings has issued a written apology and retraction addressing statements previously made in court filings and on social media. In this statement, he confirms that he has no evidence of wrongdoing by Norfolk County Council or staff, and fully withdraws any allegations suggesting improper conduct, dishonesty, or misconduct. 

The apology specifically acknowledges that there was no evidence of corruption, collusion, misconduct, or breach of duty by members of Council or staff and retracts statements that may have questioned their integrity or conduct.

In addition to the apology, Mr. Cummings releases the Corporation of Norfolk County, Mayor Amy Martin, named Council members, and Norfolk’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) from all claims, past and future, related to the matter.  

The Full and Final Release also confirms that no further legal action or proceedings will be pursued in relation to this matter and that Mr. Cummings will cease to utter, write, or publish any comments, statements or communications in any form, including oral, written, or online, or through any other media platform or forum, that are disparaging or that may be considered derogatory or detrimental to the reputation of named Council members, the Chief Administrative Officer, or the Corporation of Norfolk County.

Norfolk County acknowledges the resolution of this matter and appreciates the conclusion of all legal proceedings, as this action has cost the County direct significant resources.
