Norfolk County delegation to attend 2025 AMO Conference in Ottawa

Norfolk County is set to join more than 2,000 municipal leaders, staff, and provincial officials in Ottawa from August 17 to 20 for the 2025 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference.

This annual gathering serves as a vital forum for collaboration, learning, and advocacy as communities across Ontario confront pressing challenges.

The AMO Conference brings together municipal and provincial officials to discuss shared priorities and explore innovative solutions. With speakers, sessions, and workshops, the event reflects the broad scope of municipal responsibilities. Attendees will hear from Premier Doug Ford, members of Cabinet, opposition leaders, and AMO President Robin Jones. AMO will also launch its first Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan.

Norfolk County’s delegation includes:

  • Mayor Amy Martin
  • Deputy Mayor Alan Duthie
  • Ward 6 Councillor Adam Veri
  • Chief Administrative Officer Al Meneses

The Norfolk County Delegation will attend sessions and meet with various Ministers and provincial staff to advocate for key priorities, including support from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to address housing supply and rural zoning challenges, and from the Ministry of Infrastructure to secure critical investments in water systems and shoreline protection. The delegation will also highlight the need for coordinated provincial support to advance economic development, rural healthcare, and transportation infrastructure.

As one of Ontario’s largest single-tier municipalities, Norfolk County spans 1,600 square kilometres of urban, agricultural, and industrial land, with 135 kilometres of shoreline along Lake Erie and a growing population of over 70,000. The County faces unique challenges that require tailored provincial support.
