Norfolk County advances local priorities during meetings with provincial leaders at AMO Conference

Norfolk County delegates met with provincial ministries this week at the 2026 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference in Ottawa to advocate for local priorities and strengthen provincial partnerships.

Norfolk’s priorities

County delegates participated in meetings with provincial ministries to advance Norfolk's priorities, including reliable funding for municipalities, sustainable investment in infrastructure, responsible growth and development, and support for housing, homelessness, and mental health.

Highlights from the conference

Norfolk County’s delegates met with the following ministries:

Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security
Ministry of Culture and Tourism
Ministry of Education
Ministry of Energy and Mines
Ministry of Finance
Ministry of Health
Ministry of Infrastructure
Ministry of Long-Term Care
Ministry of Natural Resources
Ministry of Public Business Service Delivery and Procurement
Ministry of Red Tape Reduction
Ministry of Rural Affairs
Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility
Ministry of Sport
Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming

Norfolk delegates also participated in advocacy sessions alongside the South-Central Ontario Region Economic Development Corporation (SCOR EDC) and the Western Ontario Warden’s Caucus (WOWC), and attended plenary learning sessions. These sessions provided opportunities to participate in informative discussions on municipal matters, provincial announcements, emerging issues, and networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
