Holiday closures in Norfolk

Most Norfolk County offices will close to the public at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, and remain closed until 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026. 

County Administration Buildings 

All administration buildings will be closed during this period. 

Emergency, Essential and Critical Services 

All essential and critical services, including Fire and Paramedic Services, will continue to operate as usual. 

Court Closures 

The Provincial Offences Court at the Robinson Administration Building in Simcoe will be closed during this period. 

Social Services and Housing 

Simcoe and Dunnville offices will be closed during this period.

Residents experiencing a homelessness crisis or needing emergency housing support can call the Victim Services Support Line at 1-800-264-6671.  

Heritage and Culture 

Most Norfolk County museums and the Norfolk County Archives will be closed from December 24, 2025, to January 3, 2026. Celebrate the New Year at the Port Dover Harbour Museum’s Captain’s Polar Bear Levee on Thursday, January 1, 2026, starting at 1:00 p.m. Admission by donation. 

Norfolk County Public Library 

Norfolk County Public Library Branches will be closed December 25 and 26, 2025, and January 1, 2026. All branches will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on December 24 and December 31. On Saturday, December 27, all branches will operate regular hours (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), and on Monday, December 29, the Simcoe Branch will be open regular hours (10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). Regular hours for all Branches resume January 2, 2026. Electronic and digital resources - including eBooks, audiobooks, online learning, and streaming—remain available 24/7 at ncpl.ca. 

Recreation 

The Simcoe Recreation Centre and Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre will close at 3:00 p.m. on December 24 and December 31, and will be closed all day on December 25, December 26, and January 1. The Simcoe Seniors’ Centre and Delhi Friendship Centre will both close at the end of day on December 19; the Port Rowan Seniors Social Club will close at the end of day on Monday, December 22 - and all three locations will reopen January 5, 2026. All arenas will close at 2:00 p.m. on December 24 and December 31, and will be closed on December 25, December 26, and January 1. New Year’s Bash at Talbot Gardens is on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Special holiday skating and swimming schedules for December 23 to January 8 are available at norfolkcounty.ca/WinterHolidays

Ride Norfolk 

Ride Norfolk will not operate on December 25, December 26, and January 1.  

ServiceNorfolk 

ServiceNorfolk will be closed during this period. Residents can submit non-urgent service requests anytime through the Norfolk County Customer Service Portal at Service.NorfolkCounty.ca. For urgent issues related to forestry, parks and facilities, roads, water, sewers, or drainage, please call 1-877-298-5888. For after-hours By-law Enforcement concerns, please use the OPP non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122. Regular business hours resume on Friday, January 2, 2026.  

Transfer Stations 

Transfer stations will be closed on December 25, December 26, and January 1. Both facilities will operate regular hours from December 27 to 31. 

Waste Collection 

Waste collection will be delayed by one day for Thursday and Friday routes during the weeks of December 21 and December 28. Thursday, December 25, collection moves to Friday, December 26, and Friday collection moves to Saturday, December 27. The same adjustment applies the following week: Thursday, January 1 moves to Friday, January 2, and Friday collection moves to Saturday, January 3. Christmas Tree Depots 

Christmas tree recycling depots will operate from December 26, 2025, to January 11, 2026, with multiple drop-off locations available across the county. All decorations must be removed before drop-off, and trees cannot be bagged; curbside collection, brush and firewood are not accepted. For details, visit norfolkcounty.ca/ChristmasTreeRecycling
