Substantial completion, including base asphalt placement, is required by June 11, 2025. Work will pause after June 11, with the contractor permitted to return on June 16, 2025, to complete final project items. The project is expected to be substantially completed by the end of August 2025.
Status Update – August 12, 2025
The Harbour Street Project is nearing completion. Remaining works include line painting, cross-walk printing, minor grading/sodding, and final sign installations. The decorative streetlights will be installed later this fall as the poles and lights are unfortunately on back-order. The final work will require some temporary (short-term) lane/road closures to facilitate the work. These are expected to be short in nature. We will make every effort to provide advance notice on these short-term closures however sometimes short-notice crew availability for small site works (like Harbour Street) requires us to be nimble and accommodating in effort to complete these final items in a timely manner. Please watch for and obey sign boards and barricades which will be used to inform road users of these temporary (short-term) closures.
The County continues to work with the Owner at 32 Harbour Street and the permitting authorities of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and Long Point Regional Conservation Authority (LPRCA) on the remedial works at the vacant lot near Harbour Street/Main Street. We hope to see the dilapidated sea-wall repaired later this fall and the lot brought back to level. When this work advances, some large equipment will need to brought into this site. We will provide advance notice when this work is ready to start.
