Fall leaf and yard waste collection in Norfolk

Norfolk County’s seasonal leaf and yard waste collection program will transition to its fall schedule following the conclusion of summer service on September 26.

Fall collection begins the week of October 20 and continues weekly until the week of November 24, on residents’ regular waste collection day. This service is available in the urban areas of Courtland, Delhi, Langton, Long Point, Port Dover, Port Rowan, Simcoe, St. Williams, Turkey Point, Vittoria, and Waterford.

Residents may place leaf and yard waste at the curb in brown paper leaf bags or open-top containers without lids. Leaf and yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.

To reduce waste and support sustainability, residents are encouraged to mulch leaves into their lawns or compost them. Yard waste may also be dropped off free of charge at the Simcoe and South Walsingham transfer stations, either in yard waste bags or loose in a trailer.

Residents are reminded not to rake or blow leaves onto streets or neighbouring properties, in accordance with By-law 2004-213. Leaves can block catch basins, create slippery conditions on sidewalks and roads, and interfere with street sweeping operations.
