  • An information memo on re‑establishing a joint Municipal Election Compliance Audit Committee with Brant, Haldimand, Brantford, and Norfolk for the 2026–2030 term was received as information

Bring-Your-Own Alcohol Event Permits 

  • Report was pulled from consent to allow for discussion 
  • Members requested clarity around consultation with event organizers and input from the public 
  • Staff were directed to return to the June Council-in-Committee meeting with a more detailed report to provide an opportunity for further discussion

Commemorative and Sponsorship Naming Policy

  • Staff presented an updated policy intended to provide clarity and consistency for naming and sponsorship of County assets, such as parks, facilities and arenas. 
  • Council discussed: 
    • Differences between major and minor naming requests 
    • Public consultation and transparency 
    • Eligibility criteria and safeguards if a name later becomes inappropriate 
  • The policy was referred back to staff for revisions and refinement before being brought back to Council 

Provincial Tree Planting- Turkey Point

  • Staff clarified that recent tree planting at Turkey Point Provincial Park is a provincially led project delivered by Ontario Parks   
  • The work is focused on ecological restoration and shoreline stability and is not intended to reduce beach access 
  • The report was received as information 

Leamon Street Reconstruction

  • Committee of Council approved changes to the project scope and timing to reduce disruption near the school and arena and to better align construction with summer break 
  • No additional funding was required; internal budget adjustments were approved 

Waste Cart Exchange and Kitchen Container Fees

  • Committee of Council recommended the following amendment to the report: 
    • Property owners will have six months after the new waste program starts to try out their carts and change their cart size; after that, a $50 fee will apply if they choose to switch cart sizes 
    • A $10 fee for additional kitchen containers was recommended 
  •  Committee of Council emphasized education, fairness, and providing residents with time to adjust to the new waste collection system

Announcements 

  • Ward 3 Councillor, Michael J. Columbus, announced he will not be seeking re‑election in the upcoming municipal election, and colleagues expressed appreciation for decades of service 
  • Council acknowledged: 
    • A financial contribution from the Langton Lions Club to community facilities 
    • The upcoming 50th anniversary of Langton Showtime 

Closed sessions 

  • Committee of Council entered into closed sessions to discuss matters related to a tax sale matter in Ward 7 and ongoing litigation 
  • Items were received as information, and staff were directed to proceed as discussed in closed session
