Changes to curbside recycling for non-eligible properties effective January 1, 2026
Norfolk County reminds non-eligible property owners that curbside recycling collection will end effective January 1, 2026, in alignment with Ontario’s producer-led Blue Box program.
Curbside recycling collection will no longer be provided to the following non-eligible property owners:
• Business Improvement Areas (BIAs)
• Campgrounds/trailer parks without permanent or seasonal households
• Charitable organizations
• Churches and places of worship
• Commercial farms without a residence
• Commercial/small businesses
• Daycares
• Industrial
• Institutional
• Municipal buildings
• Not-for-profits
This information was previously shared through a November 3, 2025 media release, letters sent to non-eligible property owners in November, updates on the Norfolk County website, and social media posts.
Non-eligible property owners are recommended to seek a private recycling collection service provider. Norfolk County cannot recommend or endorse specific providers.
Curbside garbage collection
Curbside garbage collection for these properties will continue, and Norfolk County will introduce a cart-based system and green bins for organics in September 2026.
