Ministry of Energy and Electrification
Norfolk County is planning for long-term economic growth and new industrial opportunities, particularly in the Courtland area. As these plans advance, access to reliable and expanded electricity capacity has become a critical limiting factor. Ensuring adequate power supply is essential both for the development of the future Courtland industrial park and for supporting growth across Norfolk County.
Where we're at
Norfolk County is experiencing increasing pressure on its electrical infrastructure. Current capacity constraints—especially in the Courtland region—pose challenges for attracting new industries, supporting planned development, and meeting future residential and commercial demand. Without proactive investment and coordination, these limitations will restrict our ability to unlock the full economic potential of the planned Courtland industrial area and broader county-wide growth.
Our ask
Norfolk County is seeking provincial support and collaboration with Hydro One and other partners to:
- Advance electricity capacity upgrades required to service the future Courtland industrial park.
- Accelerate planning and investment in Norfolk-wide electricity infrastructure to ensure that future growth—industrial, commercial, and residential—can be supported without delays.
- Establish a clear timeline and commitment for the necessary transmission and distribution improvements to enable long-term economic development.
Norfolk is ready.
We can grow Ontario, together.
