Norfolk County calls on the Province to improve highway access and transportation infrastructure to support its growing economy, expanding population, and vital role in Ontario’s agri-food and tourism sectors.
Where we’re at
Lack of 400-Series Highway Access is Undermining Norfolk County’s Economic and Transportation Capacity
Norfolk County plays a vital role in Ontario’s agri-food economy, contributing significantly to the production and processing of goods that support both domestic and international markets. Each year, hundreds of millions of dollars in agricultural commodities and processed food products move through our region. Yet, despite this critical economic contribution, Norfolk remains underserved by provincial highway infrastructure and lacks direct access to a 400-series highway.
Tourism and population growth are accelerating, but without safe, high-capacity road access, our communities are increasingly isolated.
Norfolk asks that the Province:
- Recognize the strategic importance of improved highway infrastructure in southwestern Ontario and work with us on the following priorities:
- Initiate a provincial transportation corridor study to explore the feasibility of connecting Norfolk to a nearby 400-series highway (e.g., Highway 403, 401, or 407) through a modern, high-capacity link.
- Invest in upgrades to existing provincial highways (e.g., Highways 3 and 24) to better accommodate commercial traffic, improve safety, and support population and tourism growth.
Norfolk is ready.
We can grow Ontario, together.
