Important Notice about our Swim Program

We are changing our swim lesson program from the Red Cross to Lifesaving Society.
This change will take place in our Spring Session which starts after March Break.

Why the change? Here are the benefits of switching:
• Levels are more attainable and include fun items, while continuing to improve on skills
• More focus on survival skills and swimming ability versus perfect strokes
• Practical application of water safety in the water
• Leads seamlessly into the Society’s lifesaving training and leadership awards
• Municipalities in our surrounding area have already changed to the Lifesaving Program, therefore all pools in our area will be teaching the same program, and so there will be consistency with levels and less confusion if your child has taken lessons elsewhere.

  • Elevate Norfolk County’s image as a tourist destination
  • Inform road users of Norfolk County’s tourism operations and attractions
  • Provide roadway directions to Norfolk County tourism operations
  • Increase the frequency and quantity of tourist visits
  • Present road users with consistent tourism signage information
  • Implement a customer service approach to the management and delivery of tourism signage
  • Protect the safety of road users

Norfolk County’s Tourism Directional Signage Policy outlines in detail the aspects of this program, who is eligible, and how to participate.

Tax Increment Program

The purpose of the Rehabilitation Tax increment Based Grant Program is to encourage the remediation, rehabilitation and adaptive re-use of downtown/brownfield properties to help offset the cost of rehabilitating only where that rehabilitation results in an increase in assessment value and property taxes increase on these properties.

Norfolk County’s Community Improvement Plan establishes a framework for Norfolk County to support and implement programs that may be utilized to encourage the maintenance, rehabilitation and redevelopment of the county.

Tourism Marketing Partner Benefits

Join more than 250 Marketing Partners who collaborate annually with Norfolk County’s Tourism & Economic Development office to help promote their businesses and investment in the community as a whole. By working together, this innovative marketing partnership has won provincial and national marketing awards — not only for tourism promotions but for agricultural and economic development initiatives as well.

What is a Tourism Marketing Partner?

Marketing Partners help to drive Norfolk County’s marketing plan for tourism, agriculture and industrial growth, by investing in the partnership program and contributing financially to cooperative advertising and promotional initiatives.

Norfolk County Trails

Lynn Valley Trail

Trails are an integral component of healthy communities which provide health, environmental, economic, and social benefits. Trails also conserve open space, separate walking and bicycling from vehicle traffic (except in on-road bicycle lanes) promote public health through exercise, and provide wildlife corridors.

Trails are located throughout Norfolk County. Networks of trails begin in Simcoe, the county’s largest urban centre, and Turkey Point, which is a bit off the beaten track.
