The Norfolk County, Ward 2 By-election Voting Day originally proposed for May 27, has been postponed until June 3.

The decision to reschedule was made by the County Clerk, under Section 53 of the Municipal Elections Act, to ensure COVID-19 public health guidelines were met for the safety of all Ward 2 residents – while maintaining the integrity and transparency of the By-election.

In-person voting will not be permitted due to COVID-19. Instead, Vote-by-Mail Kits will be sent to each eligible elector via Canada Post starting the week of May 10.

Voters are encouraged to use the vote-by-mail process for enhanced safety measures during the current health crisis.

Returning ballots can be mailed via Canada Post by May 25 – or dropped off at specific county locations from May 20 to June 3.

Electors who received a voter’s card for the 2018 Norfolk County election are expected to be on the voter’s list for this election.

Those who have not received a Vote-by-Mail kit by May 18, or require confirmation they are on the Voter’s List, are encouraged to contact County Clerk’s Office at [email protected], or 519-426-5870 or 226-NORFOLK Ext. 6269.

Additional information on the election, voting process, and alternate ballot return locations will be available at norfolkcounty.ca/2021-ward-2-by-election.
