Bench Project

Norfolk County will see a total of 19 new benches at transit stops as part of a new five-year project.

As the successful bidder of an RFP (Request for Proposal), Creative Outdoor Advertising (COA) will install its Lexington model bench – billed as a rugged all-weather model ideal for the various types of weather – which comes at no cost to the municipality. The benches are corrosive/maintenance-free, and also meet provincial accessibility requirements.

COA holds contracts with more than 300 transit clients throughout North America and is an industry leader.

In exchange for the right to supply and install the benches on municipal property, as well as provide advertising space on them, the company will provide Norfolk County a monetary stipend over the life of the agreement.

“We view this as a win-win for Norfolk County,” said Norfolk County Chief Administration Officer Al Meneses. “Providing comfortable seating at transit stops greatly improves the experience for passengers – and the municipality will receive over $7,500 over the lifetime of the contract.”

The project has already begun – most benches will be installed this year with several more planned throughout the duration of the contract

“Creative Outdoor Advertising (COA) is excited to be partnering with Norfolk County to provide high-quality bus benches for bus stops,” said Marc Oosterholt COA North American Municipal Affairs Team Lead. “COA will provide a program that the residents of the County will be proud of for years to come.”
