Norfolk County staff are preparing to host the first-ever Norfolk Community Day on June 18, 2022.

County facilities such as community centres, museums, libraries, fire halls, pools, arenas, and parks in each Ward, will welcome members of the community to attend free recreational and socio-cultural activities throughout the day.

“After these last two-plus years of the pandemic, we are excited to celebrate how wonderful Norfolk is – and find new ways to inspire our residents to enjoy our great facilities,” says Mayor Kristal Chopp. “There will be a variety activities for all ages – from young to young at heart.”

Planned activities include free swims, ice skating, face painting, crafts, cake with a Councillor, virtual programming, outdoor movie, activity tents, a sandcastle building competition, fire and paramedic trucks for viewing and tours, and concerts throughout the day.

This event is intended to coincide with the planned ribbon-cutting and associated activities at the Simcoe Seniors’ Centre and with the Delhi Friendship Centre. In addition, other events are being connected such as the Strawberry Festival car show in Delhi.

Community groups and local businesses who are interested in participating in or partnering on events are encouraged to reach out to Norfolk County Recreation staff and event leads, Lisa Girard, and Merisa Kriwez who indicate, “Norfolk Community Day is a great way for the folks of Norfolk to reconnect with their communities and enjoy a variety of free activities we have to offer!”

There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities available to support Norfolk Community Day – from prize donations to in-kind contributions. Local businesses interested in participating can contact Norfolk County staff via Matt McGinty.
