As per the Federal Government’s recent announcement, Norfolk County Council has approved September 19 as a day of mourning, to encourage staff to honour and pay respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

While most County facilities will close to recognize the National Day of Mourning, staff recognize with the short window of time in which this one-time day of mourning was announced, there are some exceptions that must be made to honour existing commitments.

Community programs will run as advertised, and services at the following County facilities will not be affected, and will remain open:

  • Arenas
  • Community Halls
  • Simcoe Recreation Centre
  • Simcoe Seniors Centre
  • Delhi Friendship Centre
  • Marinas
  • Norview Lodge
  • Ride Norfolk
  • Transfer Stations

As noted in a previous release, the public is invited to celebrate Her Majesty, by signing books of condolence at one of the several County sites, or in the virtual book of condolence.

All County facilities will reopen – and services will resume on Tuesday, September 20.
