Registration will be open for Norfolk County’s summer Household Hazardous Waste Depots on Thursday, June 24 at 12 p.m. The events previously scheduled for spring were canceled due to the province-wide stay-at-home order.

The first event will take place at the Facilities Building in Simcoe on Saturday, July 24, and the second one in Delhi at the Norfolk County Works Yard on Saturday, August 21. Both events will have appointments available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To minimize lineups and ensure safety of staff and attendees, the depots will be by appointment only – following the same format as the events held in the fall. Those who attend are required to unload their own material.

This week the County has also launched the appointment-based Bulky Item Pick-Up program.

For a fee of $25 including tax, residents can schedule an appointment to have large household items picked up directly from their home.

The load size is limited to two cubic metres – roughly the size of a pickup truck box.

There are set appointment dates available that each span over five days. Pick up may occur at any time during that week.

While the Household Hazardous Waste Depot booking tool is available online, appointments for the Bulky Waste Program must be booked and pre-paid through ServiceNorfolk by calling 519-426-5870 or 226-NORFOLK ext. 0.
