July 8 – The wheels are rolling once again – Food Truck Fridays returns this week.

A program that began as a pilot in 2018 as part of a Downtown Revitalization Project, Norfolk County will welcome trucks offering delicious fare to downtown Simcoe once a week from July 12 to Sept. 6.

Up to a pair of trucks will be parked on Court St. (just outside of the County Administration Building) and open from 11a.m.-3p.m. A convoy of at least four restaurants on wheels is scheduled to come to town for a food truck party Aug. 23.

A number of the trucks involved – like Cravings and Kaley’s for example – will not only be familiar to Norfolk residents but offer local products. An estimated 250 customers attended last year’s multi-truck party alone.

“Last year’s program was very well received,” said director of planning Shannon VanDalen. “We’re very excited that Food Truck Fridays will be back again this summer. It doesn’t just give people in town some more delicious options but also supports local businesses. We think people will love our 2019 lineup.”

The program begins with Cravings and Tacos Mexico and returns with Cravings and Kaley’s July 19. Kaley’s takes centre stage on both July 26 and Aug. 2, Cravings is back Aug. 9. WM Catering will get involved Aug. 16 and also be part of the Aug. 23 party. Duties for the final two weeks – Aug. 30 and Sept. 6 – will be handled by Cravings and Tacos Mexico respectively.
