Each fall, Norfolk County staff provide routine maintenance to watermains throughout the County.
During a flush, hydrants are opened and allowed to flow in a controlled manner in one direction. The increased flow scours pipe walls, cleaning the sediment from inside the watermains.
The fall schedule is as follows:
- Port Rowan – September 27 – October 1
- Delhi – September 27 – October 8
- Port Dover – October 4 – November 12
- Courtland – October 4 – October 8
- Waterford – October 12 – October 22
- Simcoe – October 18 – November 26
Discoloured water is a normal side effect of cleaning watermains. If you notice discoloured water, simply run your faucet until clear.
