Oct. 9 – Norfolk County Tourism and Economic Development is celebrating Small Business Week in a big way.

On Oct. 17, small business owners can receive valuable tips from Millards Chartered Professional Accountants as part of the County’s 2019 Workshop Series. The session will focus on effective business management.

“An important part of our mandate is business retention and expansion,” said Clark Hoskin, Director of Tourism and Economic Development at Norfolk County. “We use the feedback gleaned from our business visitation program to strategize for business development efforts and these workshops are a part of our action plan to further the goals of our companies.”

Those attending the free seminar will learn about aspects of their businesses that they should be paying particular attention to and the pitfalls to avoid. Principles of businesses that are facing particular challenges – or have identified an opportunity they would like to capitalize on – are encouraged to join. There will be the opportunity to share best practices, get an objective second opinion and explore ways to collaborate with other local businesses.

The Tourism and Economic Development Department is committed to keeping with Council’s strategic initiatives to cultivate innovation that is truly made-in-Norfolk, and to build on local developments in agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing. It also strives to become the place where people can test their ideas and build new enterprises.

Also being offered that evening is a session on non-traditional business financing and business consulting presented by Venture Norfolk. Venture Norfolk offers many different business support programs and these will be highlighted during the presentation.
