Norfolk County has officially sold the Charlotteville Community Centre to the Charlotteville Agricultural Society.

The sale was made official April 6. Norfolk County Council was aware of the transaction, and an information memo was included in the May 9 Council-in-Committee information package.

The sale itself was for the sum of $1 and resulted in Norfolk County no longer being responsible for maintenance, repairs, or expenses for the building, which is located at 1258 and 1262 Turkey Point Road in Walsh.

The Agricultural Society is a volunteer board that hosts the annual Donnybrook Fair, a two-day event dating back to 1857 that includes a student tug-of-war competition, crafts, games, a demolition derby, rides, car show, and more.

“This transaction partners this community asset with a long-standing community group,” said Norfolk County Mayor Amy Martin. “It’s a win-win for both sides.”
