Norfolk County has proclaimed the weekend of August 28-30 “Canada United Weekend” in support of a national campaign designed to help Canada’s small businesses.

Residents are invited to join the Canada United movement by buying and dining local, celebrating and supporting Norfolk’s diverse small business community.

“When it comes to innovative entrepreneurship, Norfolk County punches far above its weight,” says Mayor Kristal Chopp. “Norfolk is home to more than its share of small businesses. But the hard-working people behind these ventures have been hit hard by the economic impact of COVID-19, and need our support now more than ever. That’s why I’m calling on all residents to come out and support our local businesses as they re-open after COVID-19.”

The Canada United campaign, created by RBC and a range of national partners, will provide financial support for small businesses for every view of their video, as well as for interactions on social media.

A digital toolkit to help small businesses promote the upcoming Canada United Weekend is available here.

The initiative is supported by the Simcoe and District Chamber of Commerce.
