Residents planning to add a deck, pool, or shed to their property can now gain some in-person assistance during the permit process.

Norfolk County’s Building Department is hosting a fast-track permit night in Simcoe on Tuesday, March 21 to help community members beat the summer rush.

From 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Robinson Administration Building at 185 Robinson Street (second floor), County staff will review completed applications to ensure compliance with zoning and building code requirements. Applications passing review will be issued permits that night.

No registration is required; members of the public can drop in during posted hours.  Reviews will be completed on a first come, first served basis.

Residents can visit the department’s new online portal to start a new permit application and check the status of their permit(s) 24 hours a day, seven days a week from the comfort of their home or office. The online portal is one of the ways the department has been able to speed up building permit and zoning review timelines.
