June 6 – Do you need a unique gift for a special occasion? Visit the grand opening of the Norfolk Arts Centre (NAC) Gift Shop June 8 from 1-4p.m.

There you’ll find a selection of one-of-a-kind creations by over 20 local artists and artisans. Up for grabs will be distinctive pieces courtesy Norfolk area potters, glass artists, jewelers, photographers, woodworkers and much more.

In creating the shop, NAC staff aim to support local creators by promoting their works and providing them with a venue to sell their designs to the public. Curator Roberta Grosland said it also offers residents the opportunity to purchase local, handcrafted products, catalogues, and items that foster and inspire creativity.

“The new gift shop will not only enable us to showcase the amazing talent of our Norfolk and area artists, but it will give visitors to the NAC the opportunity to take a piece of Norfolk home with them,” she added. “We love being able to support local artists while giving our visitors the best experience possible.

Following the opening, the gift shop will be open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-4 p.m.

Afterward the opening, shoppers can enjoy NAC exhibits Branding, Butter and Bulls, which explores the agricultural art of Ross Butler.  Bird is the Word includes sculptures, drawings, prints and painting of birds from the NAC’s permanent collection.

Any profits realized will go to support NAC programming.

The Arts Centre is located on 21 Lynnwood Avenue in Simcoe.
