Advanced Leadership programs provide a practical and hands-on approach to enable individuals to learn new skills and apply existing knowledge to be at the forefront of aquatic and leadership roles.

National Lifeguard & Standard First Aid

National Lifeguard is a legal certificate for lifeguarding throughout the country and the only lifeguard certificate recognized by the province of Ontario. The Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Core Content teaches the basic principles of lifeguarding in any aquatic situation. The National Lifeguard Pool Certification trains lifeguards in safety supervision and rescue in a pool environment.

Swimming lessons will be modified to follow guidelines & health precautions as set out by the province of Ontario, public health, and the Life Saving Society. All lessons will be taught by a qualified Lifesaving Instructor. Missed lessons will not be rescheduled. There will be NO REFUNDS, or credits due to missed lessons.

Prerequisites: Must be 15 years of age or older by the last day of the course and have a Bronze Cross or higher certification (need not be current). There is an extra fee for the Alert Manual and Safety Kit. Note: Candidates must attend all sessions and successfully complete all course requirements to receive this certification.

Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid

Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education - judgement, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Rescuers learn tows, carries, and defense & release methods.

This course will be modified to follow guidelines & health precautions as set out by the Province of Ontario, Public Health and the Life Saving Society. All lessons will be taught by a qualified Lifesaving Instructor. Missed lessons will not be rescheduled. There will be NO REFUNDS, or credits due to missed lessons. Prerequisite: Must be 13 years of age on or before exam or hold the Bronze Star award. *Swim Kids 10 or Lifesaving Swimmer 9-Star Patrol & Bronze Star highly recommended. 100% attendance recommended. 13 yrs+

Bronze Cross & Standard First Aid

Designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Standard First Aid: Provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. This course is for those who want an in-depth understanding of first aid. Approved by Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. Prerequisite: Bronze Medallion, age prerequisite has been dropped for this award.

Bronze Star & Basic First Aid

Bronze Star develops swimming proficiency, lifesaving skill and personal fitness. Candidates refine their stroke mechanics, acquire self-rescue skills, and apply fitness principles in training workouts. Bronze Star is excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion and provides a fun introduction to the lifesaving sport. Prerequisite: Recommended Lifesaving Society Star Patrol.

Assistant Instructor Course

Through in-class learning and in-water practice, this course will prepare candidates to help certified instructors with swimming and lifesaving classes. Candidates will be introduced to key principles of learning and teaching and master basic progressions. Candidates will also learn the roles and responsibilities of instructors and their assistants.

This course will be modified to follow guidelines & health precautions as set out by the Province of Ontario, Public Health and the Life Saving Society. All lessons will be taught by a qualified Lifesaving Instructor. Missed lessons will not be rescheduled. There will be NO REFUNDS, or credits due to missed lessons. Pre-requisites: Must be 14 years of age or older by the last day of the course and have a Bronze Cross or higher certification (need not be current). Candidates should have the Canadian Lifesaving Manual for on-course reference. 14 yrs+

Junior Lifeguard

The Junior Lifeguard Club is an alternative to traditional test-sheet-based aquatic programs. The Club stresses fun and aquatic skill development based on personal-best achievement. Building on skills they already have, Junior Lifeguard Club members work to develop and improve swimming and other aquatic skills with emphasis on swimming skills, lifesaving skills, lifesaving knowledge, leadership & teamwork, community education, competition, personal fitness. Leadership development - including teamwork and decision-making skills - is an important aspect of the Junior Lifeguard Club. Members apprentice with working instructors and lifeguards.
