We want to ensure that everyone is safe at the facility and on the ice. 

A number of protocols have been put in place to help keep skaters and the community safe and limit the spread of COVID-19.

There are no refunds. Changes or cancellations can be done in advance up to the start of your skate time for a credit on your account. 

 


How to Register

COVID-19 restrictions have reduced the number of participants to 150 skaters only.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. 

THERE WILL BE NO REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED AT THE ARENA. Do not call the arena to register.

All programs are available for registration online through ENCORE or by calling the Simcoe Recreation Centre at 519-426-8866 x 2233.

Payment must be made at the time of registration by credit card.

 

If you would like to place a credit on your account by cash, cheque, or debit in order to utilize the online registration system, please visit the Simcoe Recreation Centre located at 182 South Drive, Simcoe — between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

 

Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note registrations are FINAL. There will be NO REFUNDS. Cancellations are accepted if made in advance of registered skate times which will result in a credit on account.

 

Participants MUST also arrive at the designated skate start time. Participants are asked to line up outside, adhering to physical distancing markings. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the start of the skate. If participants arrive after the designated skate time they may not be guaranteed access. There will be no refunds or program credits in this event.

Added Safety Procedures

In addition to the robust return-to-play protocols developed by each sporting body, Norfolk County is implementing its own plan aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19.

This will include:

  • the regular cleaning inside arenas.
  • building capacity limits, when applicable.

 

Safety Basics
  • Please pay attention to the signs and listen to staff instructions.
  •  Do not attend the skating session if you or a family member feel unwell.
  • Physical distancing while in the building of 2 m or 6 ft. must be maintained from others outside your social circle at all times.
  • Hand sanitization stations will be available, and skaters will need to sanitize their hands upon arrival and exiting the facility.
  • Please leave at the conclusion of your program through the designated exit points.
  • Capacity may be reduced to permit physical distancing.

 

When You Arrive

  • Please arrive only 15 minutes prior to your ice time.

Ontario Hockey Federation Guidelines


The Parent & Tot skate is designed for the parent and preschool child to skate together. No individual adult or child will be permitted. It is highly recommended that children wear a helmet with a face mask and adults also wear a helmet. Only approved skate aids are permitted.  Aggressive play, power shooting, power skating, etc. is not permitted. All skates are 50 minutes.

Children under the age of 12 must come with a parent or guardian 18 years or older. A CSA-approved hockey helmet is strongly recommended. Food & beverages are not permitted. Only approved skate aids and ice skates are permitted on the ice. Skate in approved direction only and do not carry children. All participants must be in control at all times.

Adult Skates are an awesome way to get some exercise and meet new people! Must be 18 years or older. The program is unsupervised. It is recommended that CSA-approved hockey helmets be worn. Only approved skating aids are permitted on the ice. Skate in the approved direction only. Figure skating is not permitted.

For adults interested in practicing their stick and puck handling skills. Must be 18 years or older. Skates and CSA-approved helmets are mandatory equipment for all program participants. A cage or visor is highly recommended. Hockey players wishing to wear their full hockey equipment are welcome. There is NO scrimmage, shinny play, or goalies in nets.

For families interested in practicing their stick and puck handling skills. Skates and CSA approved helmets (cage or visor is highly recommended) are mandatory equipment for all program participants. An informal “drop-in” pick-up game of hockey for adults and seniors. Participants are to plan and organize gameplay themselves. Body contact is not permitted. Full hockey equipment, CSA-approved hockey helmets, and a full cage/shield are strongly recommended for all participants. Pre-registration is required-there will be no registrations completed at the arena. All participants must be registered to participate, including support/caregivers if on the ice.
