Request for an Expression of Interest for an Urban Design Advisory Panel

 

Norfolk County  is seeking up to three (3) design professionals and one (1) community member at large to serve as a volunteer member of an Urban Design Advisory Panel (UDAP) to review and provide feedback on various urban design aspects of a Site Plan application for the following properties:  

 

    • 225 Chapman Street, Port Dover. N0A 1N0
    • 230 Chapman Street, Port Dover. N0A 1N0
    • 2 Lynn Street, Port Dover. N0A 1N0

 

Role: The Panel will act as an independent advisory body to the Planning Department to assist in achieving high-quality urban design, aesthetics, public-private interface and environmental sustainability in the development.  

Qualifications: Applications are sought from professionals with built-environment experience in the fields of architecture, urban design, landscape architecture or planning. All Panel members must be registered members in good standing with their respective professional associations: Ontario Association of Architects; Ontario Association of Landscape Architects and/or the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects; Ontario Professional Planners Institute and/or Canadian Institute of Planner.   In addition to these core disciplines, applications are welcomed from individuals and members of any local community organization with knowledge and experience in local history, culture and heritage, community development, and accessibility.  

Timeframe: Members of the Panel will participate for a maximum of 2 months term with not more than 3 meetings to meet the Planning Act timeframe for a Site Plan Application.  

 

How and When to Apply: Interested candidates need to submit a cover letter summarizing their qualifications, and experience, and briefly explain why they are interested in Norfolk County’s Urban Design Advisory Panel for this development proposal with their resume, by Friday, January 6, 2022, at 4:00 pm.

Virtual pre-consultation and meetings are being scheduled using Microsoft Teams. Applicable information will be provided to proponents, applicants and agents when the meeting is scheduled. Furthermore, where applicable public notifications will include information about how to attend the virtual meeting and other options for providing comments on the application. Please contact the Planning Department to make arrangements in regard to the appropriate manner to submit your planning application. Payments can be mailed in or delivered to the Planning Department located on the second floor of 185 Robinson Street, Simcoe It is very important that all payments and submissions are clearly labelled with the applicable address and/or name for the application, to the attention of the Planning Department. Failure to do so may impact the timing of your application including the deeming of an application complete.
